Color. Why you find particular color at particular place….? Because it has meaning and it has relation. Who are into branding and who make strategy for the end customer; color play vital role. I have tried to narrate in brief regarding color psychology, which will be helpful to Brand and Branding people.
Blue color represents Trustworthy, Dependable, Committed, Peace, Confidence and Professional. It shows positive mood and it’s calm and cool. Blue color is universal color. A deep royal blue or azure conveys richness and perhaps even a touch of superiority. Blue is a favorite color of both men and women of all ages. It may be the calming effect of the color blue that makes it a popular color for both men and women. Some studies are showing that weight lifters can lift more weight in a blue gym – in fact, nearly all sports are enhanced in blue surroundings.
Green is life. The color of growth, nature, and money. Abundant in nature, green signifies growth, renewal, health, and environment. Green color represents tranquil, refreshing, peace, ecology, money, growth and freshness. Green color help to relax mentally as well as physically. It helps alleviate depression, nervousness and anxiety. With both a warming and cooling effect, the color green denotes balance, harmony, and stability.
Yellow is sunshine. It is a warm color that, like red, has conflicting symbolism. Yellow color relates optimism, enlightenment, happiness energy, comfort and liveliness. Yellow color sparks creative thoughts. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow color helps to activates memory and encourages communication.
Orange is vibrant and flamboyant. It’s a combination of red and yellow so it shares some common attributes with those colors. It denotes energy, warmth, and the sun. Its Encourages socialization. Orange color relates to luxury, passion, exotic, enthusiasm, vibrant and affordability.
Red color has more personal association and it has exciting level of energy as per the intensity of the color. If you want to draw attention, use red. It’s associated with movement and excitement. Red color relates to encourage, action, confidence, and aggression. It connotes danger, heat, fire and speed. It is also the color of love. It shows protection from fear. It’s a strong color that conjures up a range of seemingly conflicting emotions from passionate love to violence and warfare. In some cultures, red denotes purity, joy, and celebration. Red is the color of happiness and prosperity in many Asian countries and may be used to attract good luck.
The color of royalty, purple connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic. Its favorite color of adolescent girl. It calms to the mind and nerves also encourage creativity. Purple stands out as a feminine color because it is chosen almost exclusively by women as a favorite color and is strongly disliked by men. It also relates to Mystery, spirituality, justice and truth.
Solid, reliable brown is the color of earth and is abundant in nature. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar to wood or leather. It relates to stability, reliability, simplicity, comfort and casual. Brown is a warm neutral color that can stimulate the appetite. It is found extensively in nature in both living and non-living materials. Brown color associate with natural and organic things. Shades of brown coupled with green are an especially earthy pair, often used to convey the concept of recycling or earth-friendly products.
White color symbolizes pure, clean, neutral, safe and happy. White color shows mental clarity and peace. White color helps for purification of thought and action and Enables fresh beginnings. Black, white goes well with almost any color. It is a compression of all the colors in the color spectrum.
Gray is a neutral, balanced color. It is a cool, conservative color that seldom evokes strong emotion although it can be seen as a cloudy or moody color. Gray is most associated with the practical, timeless, middle-of-the-road, solid things in life. Some shades of gray are associated with old age, death, taxes, depression or a lost sense of direction. Silver is an off-shoot of gray and often associated with giving a helping hand, strong character.
Black is the color of authority and power, stability and strength. It is also the color associated with intelligence. Black is a serious color that evokes strong emotions; it is easy to overwhelm people with too much black. Black shows sense of potential and possibility.
